✅YOU NEED AN eVISA

United States passport holders are not visa-exempt; an e-visa is the simplest route (up to 90 days).

Indicative result

This is guidance based on current policy — not an official determination. There is no public visa-status API, so confirm your eligibility and check any application status on the government portal.

How it works

5 steps to apply yourself

  1. 1

    Gather your documents

A passport valid 6+ months, a scan of its data page, a passport-style photo, your Vietnam address, and your entry/exit dates and border gates.

  2. 2

Fill the form on the official portal

Go to evisa.gov.vn and complete the application section by section. Use exactly the names and numbers as printed in your passport.

  3. 3

    Pay the fee online

Pay US$25 (single) or US$50 (multiple) by card. The fee is not refunded if your application is denied — so check every field first.

  4. 4

    Wait and track your status

Processing is usually about 3 working days. Keep your registration code and check the status on the same portal.

  5. 5

    Download and print it

When approved, download the e-visa PDF and print a paper copy to show at immigration — a phone screen alone may not be accepted.

  • Passport-style photo (we'll check it)

Common mistakes · avoid rejection

  • Entry port must match where you'll actually arrive (e.g. HCMC/SGN)
  • Name EXACTLY as in passport
  • Single-entry visa: leaving Vietnam = visa used up, cannot re-enter

Use only the official portal

Many look-alike sites charge extra service fees for the same government e-visa. The real fee is US$25 / US$50, paid on evisa.gov.vn — and it is not refunded if your application is denied.

Limited options

An e-visa usually cannot be extended for tourists — the common routes are to exit and get a new e-visa, or an in-country extension through a licensed agent (costly, not guaranteed). You have 14 day(s).

14 day(s) remaining

Stay longer · your options

e-visa extension

Limited; often easier to exit + re-enter with a new e-visa

In-country extension

Via the Immigration Dept or a licensed agent (bureaucratic, allow time)

Visa run

A "visa run" to a neighboring country + new e-visa is common for tourists

Don't overstay

Overstaying means fines + possible entry ban. Settle before your stamp date.
