Foreigners can extend their visas directly or online through the National Public Services Portal. Online visa extension is a new form applied by the Vietnamese Government for foreigners residing in Vietnam and is an important administrative procedure reform in the process of digitizing public services.
- Foreigners must be residing in Vietnam; Passport must be valid
- Provide documents proving the necessity and legitimate reasons for staying in Vietnam
- Companies, organizations sponsoring visa extensions for foreigners must have registered electronic immigration accounts.

Step 1: Access the National Public Services Portal website and log in with the registered and approved account.
Select the online application submission section on the menu bar and search for 'Extension' under 'Immigration Management'.
Step 2:Fill in the required information online

Step 4: Submit the fee as instructed by the Public Services Portal when the application is received and approved
Usually, the fee is applied after the passport is transferred to the Immigration Department and the documents are accepted. The Immigration Department will collect the fee before the applicant can proceed with online payment.
Step 5: Check and search online visa extension results. During the application review process, the applicant can check the status of the application through the extension code.
