Trekking through Ba Vi forest on a new route
Ba Vi National Park is about 60 km west of Hanoi, spread over an area of nearly 11,000 hectares, is a complex of entertainment, exploration and resort areas. This is a suitable place for young people or families to come and relax every weekend, after tiring working days.
Ba Vi National Park has a fresh, cool climate with a rich and diverse flora, including 1,209 plant species, including 503 medicinal plants. The trek also lets you learn about many strange plants that only exist in the forests.
Coming to Ba Vi, in addition to activities such as visiting the cactus garden, Thuong Temple, French relics... you can also challenge yourself and find new things in the day treks.
Currently, Ba Vi National Park has opened many short treks suitable for both amateurs and professionals. Not many tourists know about the trekking routes in the forest in Ba Vi, so you can freely explore without fear of crowds. Walking in the deserted forest, only the sound of footsteps stepping on the carpet of rotten leaves, the chirping of birds, and the rustling of leaves above your head makes everyone feel comfortable.
There is an easy route lasting about 2 hours starting from Cot 1,100 m down to Cot 400 m. This trek will pass through the prison area, the prison guard's house built during the French period. This small road has many large shady trees with interesting hanging vines.
May - September is the hot and rainy season, November - March is the dry season. However, between the two periods there is still a transition period of April and October, so Ba Vi still has four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. The most suitable tourist season here is autumn and summer, on sunny days you can go hiking, visit landmarks, enjoy the forest scenery... With an average annual air temperature of about 23 degrees Celsius, Ba Vi is an ideal "heat escape" destination for every hot summer in Hanoi.
When trekking in the forest, you should prepare shoes, socks, wear long clothes, wear a hat, use insect repellent... The things you bring should be compact and light, you should wear a backpack to balance when moving. The trip is short so you don't necessarily need to bring a lot of food and drinks.
You can completely go on your own to visit temples, French relics... in Ba Vi, but for trekking in the forest, you need a local guide to ensure safety. Currently, those who do not have experience in trekking can buy a one or two-day tour from Active Travel to experience this little-known forest route.
