A trip to Cu Lao Thac offers a memorable experience amidst the deep forest, with majestic waterfalls and the simplicity of village life.
Immerse yourself in the pristine natural scenery of Cu Lao Thac, which offers you a great opportunity to challenge yourself and find peace. Located in Vinh Hao commune, Vinh Thanh district, the 300 m high waterfall is quietly hidden in the deep forest, 90 km from Quy Nhon city (Binh Dinh - Vietnam). Although it has no official name, the name Cu Lao Thac has been favored by local people.
The journey to Cu Lao Thac starts from DT637, where the road winds along Dinh Binh Lake. From Dinh Binh Hydroelectric Plant, you will travel another 12 km to get closer to the foot of the waterfall. There, a small trail on the left side of the road will take you to the village near the waterfall - the starting point for an exciting journey.
In the small village with a rustic character, the locals are willing to guide you along the trail, following the stream to reach the foot of the waterfall. Along this 4 km long trail, which usually takes more than two hours to travel, you will admire the wild beauty of the forest, hills and immense corn fields.
Starting the trekking journey from the foot of the waterfall, you will pass through the green acacia forests planted by the locals, the terrain gradually becomes more difficult as you climb the steep paths. The further you go, the trail disappears, requiring you to open the way and clear the land yourself. But it is walking along the stream that helps you enjoy the fresh air. Beware of insects, wild animals and the risk of falling on this journey is indispensable.
The rainy season from September to December can be dangerous due to slippery roads and strong currents, so the best time to trek and camp is from May to July. Travel with a local for more experience and support, ensuring your safety. If you get lost, remember that the stream will lead you back to the village.
